Hello Everyone,
Thank you to everyone who has taken an active interest in the major issue that WSG has undertaken this year, the on-campus polling location. What we are trying to do is move one Aldermanic District, district 2, on-campus. There are several things that we hope to achieve out of this.
- Easier location for students from district 2 to vote.
- Increasing the turnout of district 2.
- Strengthening the student voice.
- In strengthening the student voice, we hope to obtain more attention from legislatures concerning more student issues, such as tuition.
- Allowing the potential for more efficient lines for registration of citizens within district 2.
District 2 is comprised of students of the Drumlin halls of the campus, as well as apartments in that area. To see a specific map that shows the district layouts, please refer to http://www.ci.whitewater.wi.us/Elections/District_Map.pdf. We hope to be able to move district 2 into the new University Center when it opens at the beginning of 2008. This will allow a few city elections to take place on campus before the presidential elections of 2008.
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact WSG at WSG@uww.edu, or our phone number at (262) 472-1166, or extension 1166 if you are on campus. For more information concerning city elections, please refer to http://www.ci.whitewater.wi.us/Elections. We look forward to feedback from all students and citizens of Whitewater.

I would like to announce that WSG will be working on updating our website with more information on the governor elections. Please check back here later for additional information on profiles on the candidates. We will also include the descriptions on each position that will be available to vote on during the elections.
We are also in the process of working on a proposal to present to the Whitewater Common Council. The date of the presentation will be on Tuesday, November 20th. Please show your support for this cause by attending the Council Meeting. If you have any questions, feel free to call WSG at (262) 472-1166.

I would like to welcome back the incoming Freshman class as well as all incoming students. UW-Whitewater offers many opportunities for you to both show both yourself, and everyone else the leadership that you can achieve, as well as to create many networks of friends across the campus and city.
After working the WSG booth at the Freshman Org Fair, we have gathered roughly 30 names of people who are interested in what WSG does for the campus. I encourage everyone to find out who your representatives are on WSG in our website. If you ever have any issues about campus or city life, always feel free to talk to WSG. In addition to responding to student issues, we also provide many services for the campus. These can be found on our website as well.
For those who are interested in becoming further involved in WSG, our first meeting will be on Sept 18 at 7:00pm, in Esker Hall room 108. This is located right across from the cashier that leads down to the dining area.
There were many WSG members and WSG alumni that were at the weekend's Warhawk Football game. Congratualations to the team with a 75-14 win over Lakeland College. I feel that this is going to be another great year for our football team.
Good luck to everyone on their first week of classes.

There has been a minor error while updating the database. Apparently the database lost the phone numbers to all the landlords. However we have a backup of the information and the error will be corrected tomorrow. I am sorry for any inconvience.

I have made a few small changes to the property layout of the housing guide. The information will continually be updated in the upcoming weeks. A full new version is scheduled to be completed by the end of August. However the Guide will not be going offline while we complete the new application.
~Paul Sanchez
I will be taking the Housing Guide down for the next several weeks to reflect many design changes that will be occuring.
Other features will include free sublease lists for students. No longer will students need to resort to posting forms on boards around campus. Student rentals will also feature capabilities for additional pictures, such as interior photos. In addition, the new database design will enable far more information to be displayed for each property.

I hope everyone's summer has been going well. The WSG senate is out of session for the summer and will startup again next fall semester. If you have an interest in joining WSG next year, we have openings for the Drumlin, Esker and Off Campus districts. Feel free to contact us at wsg@uww.edu for more information.
The housing guide is in the process of being updated for the next school year. Expect changes to be coming in the next couple months. If you have any questions about the housing guide, feel free to email me at SanchezPC04@uww.edu.
I hope everyone has a relaxing summer and a great Fourth of July!
