- The
IMA chapter here at UW-Whitewater is a student chapter. Each student chapter of
IMA must have at least one professional chapter as its parent; this chapter is
lucky enough to have two: Madison and Milwaukee.

- Once a month,
these chapters have speaker meetings just like our chapter and encourage
students to attend. There are student representatives on the executive
board of each parent chapter; these students organize trips to attend the
parent chapter speaker meetings. The topics of these meetings run anywhere
from "ABC cost accounting" to "Why the Internet is so important in the
future.

- It is important
for students at Whitewater to be able to socialize in a professional
setting. This subject is not taught in any class, so this setting is a
great opportunity for students to get some "real world" experience.
Because we feel this type of experience is so important, it is mandatory
for every member to attend one parent chapter meeting a semester. Each
semester students have six or seven meetings to choose from.
