Worried about the club being too time consuming? Don't worry - Volunteering through Circle K will NOT take up all of your spare time! Most of the members are involved in many extracurricular sports and activities, as well as having jobs and demanding schoolwork. We meet once a week, every Tuesday at 5:20 pm in UC-206.

Circle K provides you with the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends!  If you're an incoming freshman or a transfer student, this may definitely be an important issue for you.  Not only do you get the chance to interact with students in our club, but you get the chance to work with other students in other clubs on campus.

Jazz up your resume!  Employers often look for volunteer or extracurricular experience throughout your college career. Many graduate programs also look for these kinds of activities on an application.  Circle K offers such experience that may be necessary for your future profession.

Volunteering your time and services is fun and makes you feel good about yourself!  Our members always have a good time lending a hand, while also gaining a feeling of accomplishment from what they've done.  Remember, YOU can make a difference in someone's life too--simply by volunteering!

Circle K focuses on three aspects:

1.  Service: CK'ers perform service projects that address the needs of their campus and community. Project examples include: blood drives, serving food at a homeless shelter, bowling with mentally handicapped children, book drives, highway clean-ups, working with the Boys and Girls clubs, MS walk, teeter-totter marathons, walk-a-thons, etc.

2.  Leadership Development: Circle K also strives to develop the leadership skills of its members through leadership seminars, training conferences and active participation in the organization. Circle K is one of the few collegiate organizations that is student-run at all levels - club, district and international.

3.  Fellowship: Circle K'ers believe in having fun. Whether it's club social like a movie night, ice skating, road rally, interclub or a district event like a dance, picnic, District Convention, or an International event like International Convention, Circle K members always have fun.

How will Circle K benefit me?

Professionally - You will learn organizational and leadership skills, project planning, time management, interpersonal skills and public speaking that will enhance your resume. Circle K provides the networking opportunities through Kiwanis. Circle K also has recognition programs, such as the Society of Distinguished Collegians, that reward dedicated members and provide proof of achievement to prospective employers. Membership in Circle K also makes you eligible for eight scholarships, valued at $6000.

Personal You will meet many, many Circle K'ers throughout the state and the country. And, you will develop close friendships with many of the people in the club and district. But Circle K also shows you what life is like outside of your dorm room. Through Circle K, you will experience the joy that comes from playing with an underprivileged child. Through Circle K, you will provide hope for people in homeless shelters. Through Circle K, you will feel pride and joy that results from knowing that you have the ability to make positive changes in your community.

Why Join?

Taking care of one's community is the right thing to do. Everyone gains when every citizen enjoys the quality of life we associate with the "American Dream". Circle K will also make you more employable. Every college graduate takes courses and has a degree -- doing those things won't make you worthy of special consideration. Being known for good works, and by successful business people provides a competitive advantage.
