| The most important person in Circle K International is the MEMBER!Builder's Club: A co-ed service organization for young people ages 12-15 years. It is Kiwanis sponsored and there are approximately 15,000 members in 605 clubs.
Circle K: A Co-ed Collegiate Service Organization sponsored by Kiwanis. Circle K International is the largest organization of it's kind in the world with over 11,000 members in about 800 clubs. It's three cardinal principles are service, leadership, and fellowship.
District: A grouping of divisions within a specific area or state(s), which comprise one of 30 entities within Circle K International. Each District is led by a district Board and is counseled by a member of the International Board. Some Districts, such as Ohio, are states in themselves, while others, such as Cal-Nev-Ha (California, Nevada, and Hawaii) are several states or parts of states.
District Administrator: A Kiwanian selected by the Kiwanis District Governor to serve as a counselor to a branch of the K-family (Circle K or Key Club) who helps oversee their activities, and who acts as a liaison to the Kiwanis District Board.
District Board: The governing body of the district elected at the district convention. The offices vary from district to district; in Wisconsin-Upper Michigan, we have a Governor, Secretary, Treasurer, Bulletin Editor, and seven Lieutenant Governors. The District Administrator, International Trustee and District Chair people are non-voting members of the District Board.
District Board Meeting: The gathering of the district board members for the purpose of carrying on the business of the district. They meet several times a year and all meetings are open for anyone to attend with the exception of "Executive Session." Only elected members of the board may attend this meeting.
District Convention: A three-day event held in March. It starts on Friday afternoon and runs through Sunday afternoon. All Circle K members in the district are strongly encouraged to attend. The program includes workshops and seminars, guest speakers, banquets, district awards, the President’s and Parents Banquet, Governor's Farewell, House of Delegates, and much, much more! It's the biggest district event of the year, and you're guaranteed a great time!
Division: A grouping of clubs within a specific geographical area. A Lieutenant Governor counsels each division. The LTG reports to the Governor on the activities and problems of the clubs in his/her division. The Wisconsin-Upper Michigan District has seven divisions: Capital, Chippewa, Metro, Northwoods, Southeast, Superior, and Winnebago.
Divisional Rally: An event coordinated by the Lieutenant Governor of each division. The current practice is to have each club try to sponsor at least one a year by picking a month to sponsor one in and informing the rest of the clubs in the division when it is. Usually some type of service project is offered to begin the rally and some type of social function would finish the rally. The purpose is to provide an opportunity for the members of the different clubs to get to know each other, and to develop divisional unity and strength.
IELI: International Experiences Leadership Institute. A weekend-long training program for club leaders as well as district and regional training conferences.
Interclub: When four or more members of one branch of the K-family attend a function of another. There are several purposes for this program including the following: To promote K-family unity, to promote brotherhood and to promote the spirit of Fellowship.
International Board: The governing body of Circle K International. It consists of 11 officers elected at the Circle K International Convention by the House of Delegates. These officers are : The International President, International Secretary, and Nine (9) International Trustees. Each one, except the President counsels three districts. The International President is the official spokesperson of Circle K International.
International Convention: A five day conference held in august each year. Circle K members from all over attend. The conference sports workshops, seminars, banquets, guest speakers, and fun beyond your wildest dreams. The House of Delegates vote on amendments, resolutions and a new International board. This is the highlight of the year for Circle K International.
International Office: The administrative office of Circle K International. It is housed, along with the Key Club International Office, in the Kiwanis International building, the three-member staff includes Circle K International administrator Carolyn Seymour and two assistants. The mailing address is 3636 Woodview Trace, Indianapolis, Indiana 46268.
International Theme and Emphasis: Programs began in 1958 (yearly then) to identify specific areas towards which Circle K's service could be directed. The International theme was extended to two-year programs in 1984.
I.T.: International Trustee. He/She is elected at the Circle K International Convention and counsels three districts. He/She also serves on one or two committees of the International Board.
K-family: Kiwanis and its sponsored youth programs (Circle K, Key Club, and Builder's Club). The motto of all is "WE BUILD."
Key Club: An International Co-ed service organization for high school students sponsored by Kiwanis. It's goals are to develop initiative, Leadership ability and good citizenship practices. Key Club International is the largest service organization of it's kind in the world with over 108,000 members in about 3,400 clubs.
Kiwanis: A Worldwide Service Organization of professional and businessmen who provide community service, fellowship, and promote leadership development through their activities as well as through their sponsored youth programs. There are almost 1/3 million members in over 8,100 clubs.
M.A.C.: Membership Awareness Conference. A three-day district event held Friday through Sunday in October, its purpose is to further educate members on the functions of Circle K International. The agenda usually includes workshops, a service project, an auction, a dance, and lots of fun!
M.L.T.C.: Midwest Leadership Training Conference. Usually held in January, Circle K'ers from all over the Midwest come together in one of the three districts that alternate hosting this event: Ohio, Michigan, or Indiana. It offers workshops and seminars pertaining to personal leadership growth and development. It lasts for one weekend, and it is a weekend full of fellowship and fun! (I think this was replaced with Midwest K-fest but I'm not positive, it's much the same just in the summer before Int'l Convention).
O.T.I.C.: On-to-International Convention. This is a District Board Committee Chair. The Person holding this chair is responsible for coordinating the travel plans, etc. for those Circle K'ers from Wisconsin-Upper Michigan who will be attending International Convention. The group of people who travel this way are said to be part of the "District Tour." Spring Fling: Spring Officers Training. This event offers workshops for the newly elected club officers. Roundtables are held to help the new officers understanding how to maintain and even better their club. It is usually held in April, This is also an excellent time for clubs to exchange ideas and help each other out. This weekend also includes workshops for all members, a service project, an auction, a dance, and lots of fun!
